No. Technically a sewage treatment plant may be able to treat certain low strength industrial types of wastewater. However Pollution Control Board norms prohibit combining of industrial wastewater and sewage. In factories, a Sewage Treatment Plant and an Effluent Treatment plant are essential as per PCB norms.

Conventional STP cost includes cost of Civil Works and Cost of Electro-mechanical equipment. The major hidden cost is the operating cost.
Civil works Cost depends on site conditions and process used in the STP. Mechanical equipment cost depends on the process. For higher quality Treated water, additional mechanical equipment may be required and the cost will increase.
